How to Keep Your Expectations of True Love Realistic

A lot of people want to fall in love, but they are scared to do so. Love, after all, is a painful, double-edged sword. On the one hand, you can find someone with whom to spend the rest of your life. On the other hand, the road to and through true love is fraught with unease and difficulty. You can be tortured by your lack of trust for another person, you can be disappointed when your lover suddenly does not meet your ideals, and when you finally take the rose-colored glasses off, you can find that all that you anticipated is nothing more than just another person. It is this lack of romance and probably the worlds increasing disillusionment that can sometimes keep people from staying on the path of true love, and that can sometimes make people jaded even before anything happens to them.

True love, indeed, is anything but paradise. The best lovers are those who have been tested by fire, those who have fought and won, those who have been through difficult times but who have emerged much closer to each other, and much stronger. True love is not something you find every day, moreover, so this time, you have two things to know about true love before you start looking for it. First, true love is not a happy notion that ensures your eternal joy. Second, it is not easy to find. This means that you shouldn't think that your next lover is the be all and end all of your existence. And you should not expect that love will make you happy on its own.

This brings us to an important point. To keep your expectations of true love realistic, you need to know that love has to come from you first before you can expect it to come from you. First, you need to love yourself first. After all, how can you give love if you do not have it first? And how can you give people something that you do not have? Take care of yourself, be healthy, and treat and pamper yourself as often as you can, patting yourself on the back for a job well done. This way, when the true love other than yourself comes along, you will be able to respond well and give true love back.

True love is real, but you should keep your expectations realistic, too.
