To say that true love is hard to find is an understatement.  Many people live their lives without ever knowing what it is and never meeting the one person who can share a meaningful relationship with them.  Others may be to confused to really appreciate true love when it walks through the door. How do you know it's true love?  Here are 5 signs you should take note of:

True love is giving.

True love isn't selfish.  You know that what you feel is true love if you're willing to put the other person first, over and beyond your personal needs and desires.  In a real loving relationship, the people involved do not keep count of what they do for each other.  If there is something that they do for the other person, they do so because they want to selflessly.  They perform this act without obligating the other person to reciprocate.

True love trusts and can be trusted.

True love is willing to let go of disbelief and paranoia.  It is willing to trust and believe the other person.  You'll know it's true love if you're willing to put your faith on your partner and if you yourself can be the one person that your partner can rely on.

True love is accepting.

Another sign that can help you know it's true love is that you can look beyond the shortcomings and faults of your partner and be willing to forgive, forget, let go and accept what is being offered to you.  Once you start loving someone because he or she is imperfect and that you don't need them to change, then you know that what you have in your hands is real.

There are few things in the world that can be as steadfast and constant as true love.  You'll know that what you have is the real thing if it can overcome the challenges that frequently drive lesser relationships apart, such as misunderstandings, feuds, fights, time and distance.  True love grows stronger as time passes and with every challenge it meets.

You'll know it's true love if you believe in your heart, without a doubt, that the person with you is someone you have chosen willingly and will continue to choose to be with over and over again for as long as you live.
