Natural Aphrodisiacs -Yesterday and Today

Chocolate contains the natural chemical Phenyl ethylamine (PEA) which stimulates the senses. Black licorice promotes strength, stamina, and endurance. Tomatoes are known to calm nerves, making intimacy more enjoyable. The avocado contains high amounts of the intimacy jolter, vitamin E. Garlic is a natural energy which helps peak performance. Bananas contain the sex hormone supporters of vitamin B and potassium. The coconut is a natural source of calcium, potassium, and magnesium, which are vitamins and minerals that increase metabolism. Figs are jam packed with B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, calcium, and potassium, which all help to increase the sex drive. Pine nuts are full of zinc. Chilli peppers not only help you feel the heat within, they also speed up your heart rate. The walnut contains healthy fats that help give sex hormones a lift. The oyster contains a high level of the sperm producing agent zinc, which increases the libido.

Originally, aphrodisiacs were given their unique name and purpose thanks to the Greek Goddess Aphrodite. Since some individuals are not as innately alluring as this goddess of love and sexuality, some people would use a natural aphrodisiac with minimal health risk. They would also use a combination of aphrodisiacs or a herbal aphrodisiac. The purpose of an aphrodisiac is to heighten the sex drive to attain more pleasure and enjoyment.

A natural aphrodisiac is an aid that emits a 'feel so good' chemical. Believe it or not, you probably have an aphrodisiac or two in your kitchen but never thought of those kitchen spices in that manner before. Some examples of aphrodisiacs are chocolate, licorice, tomatoes, avocados, garlic, bananas, coconut, figs, pine nuts, chili peppers, walnuts, and oysters, to name a few. Each of these aphrodisiacs hold special properties that promote revving up the libido.

Now that natural aphrodisiacs have been described, it is time to delve into the herbal aphrodisiacs. Although not scientifically proven, a herbal aphrodisiac is believed to increase the libido and fertility. Their role is to improve circulation by increasing the blood flow to the genitals. Forms of herbal aphrodisiacs include scents and absolute herbs themselves.

For example, frankincense and myrrh are herbal scents that can be found in candles and incense. These scents set the tone and provide a sensuous light to enhance the mood.

As for the herbs, Damiana is thought to boost sex drive by acting as a mild stimulant that causes tingling in the genital area. Ginseng increases nitric oxide which is essential to having an erection. The herb Maca is one of the top sex-enhancing plants available. Muira puama is known highly to increase libido. Yohimbe is available but it is a prescription only herb. ArginMax is a multivitamin for women that also contains Ginseng, Damiana, Gingko, and L-arginine. These are components that are essential for sexual responsiveness.

As you can see there are many natural and herbal aphrodisiacs that can heighten one's pleasure and make love more exciting. Some of these have been used for years and some you already have at home.
